Des Moines River level projection update since last round of storms is 18.9′ for Wapello County midday Wednesday. Another round of storms is on the way. Rabbit Run Road is currently closed. The alternate route on 120th Ave. is open. Valley Village Mobile Home Community residents are advised to seek alternate housing for the next couple of days. 120th Ave. will flood at 18.5′. Utility companies will evaluate water levels in the morning to see when power and gas many need to be shut off to the Valley Village Mobile Home Community. Notes from floods in the past indicate water will start backing up into Valley Village at 17′.
Water will cover 155th Ave at 14.5′, River Road near Eldon at 15′, Blackhawk Road at 15′, Cliffland Road at 16.5′. Another round of storms is expected overnight. Current river levels can be found at www.wapelloready.org/river or www.rivergages.com Residents in flood prone areas are advised to take appropriate action sooner rather than later. Emergency crews will not be able to bring emergency equipment into flooded areas. Motorists who find water over the road are advised to turn around, don’t drown. Please report issues with road flooding or washouts to law enforcement.
