214 PM CDT THU MAY 28 2020

...MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE THROUGH LATE AFTERNOON...

ONE TO TWO INCHES OF RAINFALL HAS FALLEN ACROSS THE AREA OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF HOURS. THIS MAY RESULT IN PONDING ACROSS GRAVEL ROADS, AND FLOODING OF UNMAINTAINED DIRT ROADS THROUGHOUT THE AREA. LOW-LYING AREAS, LOCAL CREEKS AND STREAMS, AND DRAINAGE
AREAS WILL LIKELY SEE ELEVATED WATER LEVELS. AT THIS TIME, FLOODING CONDITIONS DO NOT APPEAR TO BE RAPIDLY DETERIORATING.

PLEASE BE CAREFUL TRAVELING THIS AFTERNOON. IF YOU DO ENCOUNTER A ROADWAY UNDER WATER, TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN. PLEASE REPORT ANY
PROBLEMATIC FLOODING TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DES MOINES.

5/28/2020 - Wapello County Department of Public Health and Wapello County Emergency Management are deeply saddened to announce 2 more deaths in Wapello County due to COVID-19.

We, as well as all of our community agencies, Public Safety and Emergency Response partners, send our deepest condolences to the families of these individuals. Our community holds both families in our thoughts and prayers.

As COVID-19 continues to impact our lives and as restrictions are lessened, it is imperative that residents continue their vigilance and follow the recommendations of Iowa Department of Public Health to protect each other and especially those most vulnerable. Please continue to social distance and wear a mask if you have one. Clean and disinfect highly used surfaces. If you are sick, stay home and call your healthcare provider for instruction. If you have tested positive you can be with others after 10 days have passed since symptoms have first appeared, and 3 days with no fever, and no symptoms are improved.

We remind all residents to go to www.testiowa.com and take the assessment to be tested for COVID-19.

FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM CDT THIS MORNING THROUGH
THIS EVENING...

* From 7 AM CDT this morning through this evening

* Slow moving showers and thunderstorms may produce rainfall
amounts of one to two inches today, with isolated amounts of two
to four inches possible.

* Heavy rains may produce flash flooding of small streams and
creeks, and also cause significant ponding on roads, especially
in urban areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

⛈ Scattered slow moving showers and thunderstorms are expected across central and eastern Iowa today with locally heavy rains possible. Some locations may see an inch or two of rain before the precipitation ends by 7pm. Isolated locations southeast and east central may receive up to 2 to 4 inches of rain with flash flooding of small streams and creeks, and significant ponding of water on roads possible. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for those areas today.
